Thriving in Any Economy: Getting Back to the Basics
Share
Lately, I’ve been hearing a lot of talk about how “the economy isn’t great.” And while won’t argue that things feel different right now—I also can’t ignore what I see all around me.
*Airplanes are still full. * Events are still jam-packed. * People are still shopping. * Vacations are still being booked. * Clients are still investing in themselves.
The truth is, people are still spending money. The question is: how do we, as beauty and wellness professionals, make sure that we are a priority for them?
The beauty industry has weathered ups and downs before. We’ve gone through recessions, slow seasons, and global challenges—and every single time, those who leaned in, got creative, and stayed connected came out stronger.
So how do you do that? Here are a few ways to refresh and grow your business right now:
1. Communicate with Your Clients
This doesn’t have to be expensive! • Send a quick email newsletter to remind them of services, specials, or upcoming classes. Regularly send the emails! If you are out of sight - you are out of mind. • Write a handwritten card for a personal touch. • Send a thoughtful text to check in, celebrate a birthday, or remind them you’re thinking of them.
Sometimes that small act of connection is exactly what brings someone back through your door.
2. Host Something Simple
You don’t need to throw a massive event—try a: • Mini gathering in your studio • Demo night for a new service • Seasonal class or Q&A session
These little experiences create excitement and give clients a reason to come back (and bring a friend).
3. Get Back to the Basics
Remember what worked when you first started building your business: • Talking to people about what you do • Sharing your passion • Asking happy clients for referrals • Staying consistent with your craft and communication
The basics are timeless. And when paired with today’s tools (like social media and email), they’re incredibly powerful.
💡 Here’s the bottom line: while the economy may feel uncertain, people are still spending money—they’re just choosing where to spend it. Your job is to remind them why you are worth it. Stay consistent, stay connected, and keep the excitement alive in your business.
Because when you prioritize your passion, your clients will prioritize you.
