The Importance of Voting

The Importance of Voting

Here in the USA, we are quickly approaching election day. If you don’t live in the USA- hang tight this won’t be just about the USA elections. Last week I shared about how I voted early.

I won’t be getting political and quite frankly I am not a political person. However, there are things I do and don’t agree with, things I do and don’t want. We are all entitled to our own opinions and desires. The importance of voting and making our voice heard peacefully is important.

In the video I shared about voting early, I mentioned a movie I was introduced to in college called Iron Jawed Angels with Hillary Swank. I HIGHLY recommend this movie to anyone. It is about the movement to allow women to vote. The 19th amendment was adopted August 26th, 1920. Just a little over a hundred years ago. Know that some people still don’t these rights today!

Voting educated and locally is equally important. It is essential to find a neutral source that provides factual information of the candidates and what you are voting for. Many of these sources will provide questions or topics for each candidate and their viewpoint or standing on that topic. This will give you an idea of how to vote based on values that matter to you.

I would like to encourage you to think of voting differently. You are actually voting all the time. When you spend money at a business – you are voting YES for their success. When you never go to a business you are saying NO you don’t fit my life or views.

Providing a positive review and referring others is a SUPPORTED vote! Leaving negative feedback and discouraging others is an OPPOSED vote!

There is nothing wrong with either side of it. Just keep this in mind when you are going about your life. If you are unhappy with what a company does, then don’t support them. Don’t spend money there. Don’t refer others there. You don’t have to be screaming from the rooftop why you are not in favor of them, but don’t support them.

The opposite is true also – where you LOVE to do business – they treat you well, you like them, their values align with yours, they have good products / services / practices, etc…. Support them!

In conclusion, VOTE everywhere you go…. Including politics and let your voice be heard.
