Let’s be honest — our world doesn’t really do “slow” anymore. Between personal life, clients, family, and all the things that come with running a business, it feels like there’s always something pulling for our attention. But sometimes, the busy season hits a whole new level of wild.
Personally and professionally, I just went through one of those seasons. I was finishing up some courses, had a surprise family move-in for six weeks, and experienced one of our busiest times yet here at Brilliance Advanced Beauty Education (BABE). I’m so grateful for everything that’s unfolded — from hosting two conferences to maintaining our live classes, keeping up with customer service, issuing certificates, and, of course, still seeing my own clients part-time. Oh, and trying to have a life in the middle of it all!
So… what do you do when you finally come out on the other side of a season like that?
For me, the first thing is reflection. • What can I celebrate? (Because let’s face it — we don’t do that enough!) • What did I learn? • And what might I do differently next time — not as a form of criticism, but as a way to grow?
Every experience brings an opportunity to strengthen our systems, our boundaries, and ourselves.
Then comes recovery — and for me, that’s where self-care really steps in. I gave myself permission to take an extra day off from clients. I booked some well-deserved spa services (hello, craniosacral therapy, massage, and a facial). I got back into my workouts, spent more time outside, and just allowed myself to breathe.
I want to encourage you to do the same. When you move through those intense seasons — whether it’s personally or professionally — take time to: ✨ Prepare yourself as much as possible before it begins. ✨ Support yourself through it with grace and awareness. ✨ Celebrate, reflect, and restore once it’s over.
Because at the end of the day, the best way to honor our industry is to take care of ourselves. When we’re grounded, rested, and inspired, we can better share the gifts we have with the world.
So tell me — how do you decompress after a busy season? What’s one thing that helps you refill your cup? Send us a message and let us know!
